Scolopendra sp. "White Beard"
A brand new addition to the hobby from Southern Vietnam! Sure, the Mint Legs are striking, but pictures simply don't do these guys justice.
The tergites feature deep reds and browns fading into black around the margins, while the legs start orange before becoming blue-black at the tips. The head is matte red with white antenna. Lighting and viewing angles greatly impact all of these features as we tried to demonstrate in the images. They reach 10" in length conservatively, which larger examples reported from the locality.
We got just a few of these beasts, and we don't expect them to hang around long. They're currently 7" or so; we did receive one solid 10" animal we are keeping for breeding. Care is straight forward - keep them humid with excellent ventilation, and temps should stay moderate at around 72-75 degrees.
